Speaking Tip 3 : “Getting Familiar with the Test Format”

To be able to perform well in the test, you need to know what to expect from the test. Being familiar with the test format will help you relax and focus on your performance,

In the Speaking test, you have a discussion with a certified Examiner. It is interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get.

The test is 11 to 14 minutes long with three parts. Each part fulfills a specific function in terms of interaction pattern, task input and candidate output.

In Part 1, you answer questions about yourself and your family in an interview manner. In Part 2, you speak about a topic for one to two minutes after having one minute to prepare your talk. In Part 3, you have a longer discussion on the topic where you need to give more detailed reasons and examples to support your arguments.

The Speaking test is the same for both Academic and General Training tests.
